Dry needling is a skilled intervention that uses a thin filament needle to penetrate the skin and stimulate underlying myofascial trigger points, muscular and connective tissues for the management of neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments. It is a technique used to treat dysfunctions in skeletal muscle, fascia and connective tissue to diminish persistent peripheral nociceptive input, and reduce or restore impairments in body structure and function, leading to improved activity and participation. Unfortunately, most health insurance companies consider dry needling as "experimental" and will not pay for this service, even though there is 40+ years of research on the topic. We charge $30 for dry needling 1-2 muscles (CPT 20560) and $40 for 3+ muscles (CPT 20561).
